Due to city-wide cancellation of all large events well into April, along with the closure of all bars and clubs, and limitation of restaurant service to pickup and delivery only, almost every event and listing that had been added to our calendar faced cancellation or postponement. Cancellation of Live In-Person Events Since then, every live, in-person event in March (planned prior to March 12, 2020) has been canceled or postponed. Most major events in April have also been pushed back or canceled, and most indicators suggest that all April events will soon follow suit. Shift to Virtual Online Events Therefore, until local restrictions are lifted, we're shifting the focus of our site, calendar, and weekly guides to highlight live local (and select national) virtual events, along with other activities you can do from home and ways you can support Houstonians and Houston businesses, while staying safe.
These are all live events, that are happening remotely and can be viewed and joined online from your home in real-time.
The organizations and venues presenting these events are not open for visitors, so be sure to remain at home. Eventual Return to Normalcy Although self-isolation and physical distancing are new and uncertain phenomenons, leading medical officials say that this will pass—after an uncertain period of time.
Once it does, we'll be ready to shift our energies to covering live events and helping Houstonians re-emerge and re-connect with our physical community, as recommended by healthcare and community leaders. Coronavirus & COVID-19 Resources Please stay home, stay safe, wash your hands, and practice physical distancing (keep six feet away from others) if you do need to leave the home.
